Eger were missing several regulars as they faced up to taking on Honvéd on Friday evening but their guests were also shorn of two key players, Márton Szivós suspended after his four-minute sin-bin incurred in their previous match last Wednesday. Coach András Merécz was also missing after a red card in the same match so Baranbás Steinmetz took his place on the bench.
Nevertheless, Honvéd performed creditably in remaining very competitive against Eger and indeed winning the second and fourth quarters. The first period was won 3-1 by the hosts but the capital-city club took the second 4-3 to set the half-time score at 6-5 in Eger's favour. The home side pushed on after half-time and stretched their lead to 9-7 by the final break but Honvéd hit back and took the last period 3-2 thanks to goals from Adrián Simon, Alexander Kardos and Ádám Manhercz, although an equaliser still eluded them and thus meant that Eger ultimately prevailed 11-10 and kept their unbeaten league record this season intact.

Eger and Honvéd opened the 5th round of fixtures with their contest at the Bitskey swimming pool, the visitors having to cope without key player Márton Szivós but doing so impressively as they pushed the hosts all the way.
